Q: How do I create a new form?

A: First, install TransForm on the monday.com board you want to use. Then, open the TransForm board view. In the app's interface (usually a toolbar on the left), select the columns from your board that you want to include as fields in your form. The form preview will update on the right. Once configured, click "Share form" to generate a public link.

Q: Which column types can I use in my forms?

A: TransForm supports most standard monday.com column types that are suitable for form input, such as Text, Long Text, Numbers, Date, Status, Dropdown, etc. People columns and Subitem columns are generally not supported for form field creation.

Q: Can I customize the "Item Name" field on my form?

A: Yes. In the TransForm app view (where you configure the form), the label for the field that will become the item name in monday.com is usually editable. Click on its label in the form preview area (or a pencil icon next to it) to set a custom display title for your public form.

Q: How does the multilingual feature work for form respondents?

A: The public form page generated by TransForm includes a language selector. When a respondent chooses a language, the form's title, field labels, and any options (for Status or Dropdown columns) are dynamically translated to that selected language for their viewing and submission.

Q: What happens if a form is submitted in a different language than my board?

A: TransForm attempts to detect the original language of your board content (column titles, etc.) when you first configure the form. If a submission comes in from the public form in a different language, TransForm will automatically re-translate the textual data back to your board's original detected language before creating the new item in monday.com. This helps maintain data consistency for your team.

Q: How do I share my form?

A: After configuring your form fields in the TransForm board view, click the "Share form" button. A popup will display a unique URL for your form. Click "Copy link" and then paste this URL wherever you want to share it (email, website, social media, etc.).

Q: Can I turn off access to a form?

A: Yes. In the "Share form" popup within the TransForm app on your monday.com board, you can toggle the form's status between "Active" and "Inactive." An inactive form will not accept new submissions.

Q: Is my data secure? How is submitted data handled?

A: We take data security seriously. Your form configurations (which columns are selected, display titles, etc.) are stored securely. Data submitted through public forms passes through our servers transiently to create items in your monday.com board and for potential re-translation. Q: What if I change the columns on my monday.com board after creating a form?

A: If you make significant changes to your board's structure (e.g., delete columns used in an active form, or change their type drastically), it might affect how the form functions or how data is submitted. It's good practice to review your TransForm configuration if you make major board changes. Re-saving the configuration in TransForm after board changes might be necessary, which could generate a new share link if the field configuration changes.


Basic Troubleshooting for TransForm

  • App Not Loading in Board View: Ensure TransForm is correctly installed on the specific board. Try refreshing the monday.com page. Check for any browser console errors if you're comfortable doing so.
  • Form Preview Not Updating: After selecting/deselecting columns, give it a moment. If it's stuck, try refreshing the TransForm view or the entire monday.com page.
  • "Share form" Button Disabled or Error:
    • Ensure you have at least one column selected for your form.
    • Check your internet connection.
    • There might be a temporary issue with our service or monday.com's API. Try again after a few minutes.
  • Public Form Link Not Working or Shows Error:
    • Double-check you copied the entire URL correctly.
    • Ensure the form is set to "Active" in the Share popup within TransForm.
    • If you recently reconfigured the form, the old link might be invalid, and you'll need to use the new one.
  • Submissions Not Creating Items in Monday.com:
    • Verify the form is "Active."
    • Ensure TransForm still has the necessary boards:write permissions for your monday.com board.
    • Check for any monday.com board automations or restrictions that might prevent item creation.
    • There might be a temporary issue; contact support if it persists.
  • Translations Seem Incorrect or Missing: While machine translation is advanced, it's not perfect. If specific field labels or options aren't translating as expected, ensure the original text in your monday.com column titles/options is clear and unambiguous.

If you encounter a bug or an issue that isn't covered above, please help us by providing as much detail as possible when you contact us. This will allow us to investigate and resolve the problem more efficiently.

  • The steps you took that led to the issue (e.g., "I clicked 'Share form', and then...").
  • The name or ID of the monday.com board where you are configuring TransForm.
  • If the issue is with a live public form, please provide the form URL.

  • Any error messages you saw (a screenshot or screen recording can be very helpful).
